Faiz Ahmed Faiz faced a difficult life amidst military trials, accusations of sedition [rawalpindi sazish] and imprisonment, yet always remains a poet of hope and optimism. Like our recent Faiz poem, Maana yeh Sunsaan gharee, sakht Karri hai, here is a another beautiful verse, same message of hope, just said in a different way.

Dil Na-Umeed to nahin, Nakaam hi to hai
Lambi hai gham ki shaam magar shaam hi to hai

दिल नाउम्मीद तो नहीं नाकाम ही तो है
लंबी है ग़म की शाम मगर शाम ही तो है
