Haqeeqat – Allama Iqbal poem from Payam-i-Mashriq – with English Translation

Translation

A Falcon with his sharp eyes exclaimed to Goose, “What my eyes see, is a mirage not actual water “.

The Goose, who is aware of water, replied “What you see, I know is actually water”.

A Fish, who knew water more than anyone, responded from the bottom of ocean “But I am the one, who lives and breaths the waves of the sea!”

Meaning: Understanding of God is based on our capacity and proximity to our Creator. The ones who lives and breathes from his Creator is the one who really knows.
