Dr. Hargobind Khorana – Nobel Prize Winner from GCU Lahore
Although the distinguished Ravians in picture below hardly need any introduction, I will like to mention one special entry.
At GCU’s 150 celebration, I was intrigued when GCU’s VC claimed where Pakistan have one Nobel Prize (only Dr. Abdus Salam’s at that time), GCU has two. The clue is that Ravian bagged the Novel Prize was an Indian.
I had to do some googling to found GCU’s other prize belongs to Dr. Hargobind Khorana, who received Nobel prize in Medicine in 1968. His work related to the order of nucleotides in nucleic acids, which carry the genetic code of the cell, control the cell’s synthesis of proteins.
