Two heads and one crown: By Hafza Mudassar

Two heads and one crown: By Hafza Mudassar

Two minds enter the hall.
A seat is reserved for one.
The other sits where he finds
An empty place.
One has everything planned.
The other has everything prepared.
The one is attracted by a similar spirit,
And goes to them where they are murmuring,
The things they have planned,
Writing on the chairs, on the walls,
And everything in between.
The other chases the same vigor
Where they are whispering,
The things they have prepared,
Those study notes, and
Emblazoned pages.
The time comes, and both are ordered to leave
Their belongings.
Both felt like a little grace was needed.
Both were given the same piece of
Paper.
One stared at the ceiling.
The other rested his head on the chair,
And started writing.
An uninvited sound was continuously echoing in their heads:
“Hurry up boys! Your time is up.”
Both saw at each other,
Where one mind was focusing on the tiny words
Carved on the arm of the chair,
While the other was trying to remember those
Half-broken lines in his head.
Finally, pieces of paper were snatched.
Both came back.
One was saying the day was the finest.
The other was thinking, this is unjust.
Both were equally graded A-plus.
One mind was happy, other was confused.
Thinking his hard work had been stolen.
Time was passing.
The same cycle was being repeated.
Then there came a day when both
Were again on the same edge, but now
Not for the grades, but for the title
Of honor.
But unfortunately there was only one title.
Again, both were asked the same questions,
Same minds, same questions,
But now their answers were different.
One spoke assuredly, in a calm tone,
The other was struggling, and drowning in a stormy sea where no hope dwells.
Finally, the honest one got the crown of justice.
His heart filled with gratitude, his eyes shined with a silent joy.
He could not stop thinking
About sleepless nights, and unshakable courage.
The only thing he remembered was:
Justice is served and
God is very fair.
